Maya Korn
Maya is a UK/German native producer. To date, she has produced films in Beijing, New York, Mexico City, Los Angeles and London. Her company MHK Productions, is dedicated to uncovering stories in the genre space that highlight political issues, giving a voice to minority cultures.
Her recent feature credits include DEATHCEMBER’S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE (2019) and Tribeca Untold Stories Grant winner LUCKY GRANDMA (2019). Her feature lab success has come through Vivienne Vaughn’s LUCKY STRIKES that competed the Fantasia Frontieres Co Production Lab, Berlinale Talent Project Market Lab for producers & received Special Mention at Sitges Pitchbox; ICON, that has completed Cine Qua Non Storylines lab, Bifff Market and Eave Ties That Bind and Stowe Story Labs and GILLYFISH, that pitched at Galway Fleadh and was workshopped through the Cinestory and Stowe Story Labs.
Her short film, Jessica Shields BLUE HOUR, is part of the DWW AFI lab and received WIF funding it has been selected at 80 festivals premiering at Brooklyn Shorts; playing Cucalorus and winning Best Film at MKE Shorts, Baltimore Black Film Festival and Best Direction at SCAD Savannah Film fest. Her previous short, DIABLA, played over 60 festivals, won 15 awards, and premiered on Gunpowder & Sky’s Alter platform to 60k views. Another of her shorts, #NOFILTER, stars Misha Oshervic of FREAKY, won 45 awards, screened over 80 festivals and has distribution via Omeleto as part of YouTube's top showcase for award winning films. Her most recent short proof of concept for GILLYFISH premiered at BFI Flare.
Recently, she’s been diversifying into the commercial space, working with non-binary director Rhi Bergado to create content for brands with MTV and on Facebook Lives CARDI TRIES S2.
She is a Columbia University Creative Producing MFA Graduate ’19; a participant of the WIF Producing Mentorship Program ’19; a La Femis Producing Atelier graduate ’18; a finalist of the Marcie Bloom/Sony Fellowship ’17; a participant of WEMW Focus Inspirational Lab ’23 as well as their Genre lab ’24; Bridging the Dragon Sino European Lab ’24 and a proud member of WIF, BAFTA and PGA.
