Marek studied Aesthetics at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University. He writes poetry (author's readings, e.g. in the EKG poetry series About Love and the End of the World) and writes lyrics for his band, where is also plays the drums. He has authored articles for the cultural magazine Kladno Záporno. He works in the alternative section of the V.A.D. Kladno theatre, where he participates as an actor and musician in various productions. For two of the performances, he has contributed substantially to their direction, dramaturgy and stage design. The production of VALERIE A TYDEN DIVU was successful at the Jiraskuv Hronov Festival, the AITA/IATA World Festival (Saint John, Canada), Linhartovo srecanje (Postojna, Slovenia) and the AACT World Fest (Venice, Florida, USA). With his sister Barbora Chalupova, he collaborated on the films DO ZBRANE, REALITY and wrote the screenplay for her short fiction CON SPIRO and for the full-length family film THE MACHINE FOR BEAUTIFUL WEATHER.
