Tomas Hodan

Profession: WriterDirectorWriter
Country: Czech Republic

Tomáš Hodan (1980, Prague) attended various schools after graduating from high school, eventually graduating from the Film College in Zlín (2002). After making three short fiction films, he turned to documentaries, filming in a number of countries including Angola and Afghanistan. He was captivated by Transcarpathian Ukraine, where, alongside the short film "Zakarpatská oblast, Rachovský rajon" (2003), he also made his first feature-length documentary "Půl čtvrté" (2006). In this film, he showed that in a country which seems backward to the outside world, there is plenty of room for unique people, satisfying work, and the joy of life. Similarly, his lively and imaginatively composed portrait of Karel Zeman carries a positive message. He has also appeared in various projects as a cameraman and dramaturge and works primarily as a screenwriter (including for the series "Kancelář Blaník"). "Poslední závod" is his directorial feature debut.
