Nikola Kuprešanin was born in Split, Croatia in 1983. He worked for various media as a writer, including National Geographic and Le Monde Diplomatique, and won several awards for his short fiction, travelogues and screenplays. He worked as a stringer for five years, reporting from the war-torn countries in the Middle East, mainly Turkey, Iraq and Syria. He co-wrote and co-directed a 4-part documentary TV series Kurds and a documentary movie Hackers of War. He co-wrote a feature Not So Friendly Neighborhood Affair with director Danis Tanovic, with whom he collaborates on several other projects, including a TV series Kotlina (The Hollow) which won 6 awards in 29th Sarajevo Film Festival, including the best regional series, the best director and the best screenplay. He co-wrote a 2nd season of TV series Nestali which won an award “Zlatni studio” for best Croatian TV series of 2022.
Currently several projects he co-wrote are in pre-production phase, including a horror feature Blok 62 with director Vanja Vascarac and an international documentary movie Besa with director Rok Biček.
