Not My Circus

NOT MY CIRCUS is a tragicomic miniseries set in Berlin, blending episodic stories with an overarching narrative. The series centers on "Lapinski and Son," a jazz music store run by Lukasz Lapinski, a Polish immigrant who is raising his sixteen-year-old son, Kuba. Lukasz is deeply rooted in his love for jazz and fails to notice the changing world around him, including Berlin's shift toward techno culture and his son's struggle with a non-binary identity. When radical feminists open a sex shop next door, Lukasz's carefully maintained world begins to unravel. The climax comes during the store's anniversary celebration when Kuba comes out, forcing Lukasz to confront the realities he's been avoiding. The series tackles themes of generational conflict, love, acceptance, and important socio-political issues like transphobia, homophobia, and nationalism.
