Yelizaveta Smith was born in Odesa, Ukraine. Studied mathematics, but then totally changed the way and graduated from Kyiv national university of theatre and cinema as a film director. In 2014 co-founded the film company Tabor Production. After the Ukrainian revolution started the volunteer work with children in city Mykolaivka in the Donetsk area, where the war partly destroyed the city. The volunteering process was a start of the movie School No 3 that was premiered at Berlinale 2017, where it got Grand Prix in Generation 14+ program. One of the big interests is theatre and documentary theatre. Was a director of workshop and documentary play Wo es brennt in Constance theatre Germany in spring 2016. Was the main director of social theater project Class act East-West in summer 2016. Was a director together of documentary play Dad desides in September 2016. Participant Berlinale Talents campus 2018. Member of Ukrainian Film Academy and European Film Academy.
