Tomaz Gorkic
Tomaž Gorkič is a film and theater director and scriptwriter working in Slovenia and Italy. His filmography includes two feature films and fourteen short films, showcased at numerous international film festivals and collectively winning more than 35 film awards. Gorkič's feature film debut, Idyll (2015), garnered praise both domestically and abroad, receiving 21 awards at international film festivals and was defined as "the first true Slovenian horror film" and as "the most radical Slovenian film after the independence" (Marcel Štefančič Jr., Mladina). His second feature, the satirical horror film The Curse of Valburga (2019), traveled the world after its national premiere at the 15th Grossmann Festival in Ljutomer and international premiere at the prestigious 52nd Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Spain, participating in over fifty film festivals and winning eight awards. Both films were screened in cinemas, on VOD platforms, and on DVDs in numerous countries worldwide.
