Rozalie Kohoutova
Rozálie was born in Prague in 1985. She studied Romani studies at Charles University. In 2006, she was accepted to FAMU, majoring in documentary filmmaking. Her semi-documentary bachelor's film, Roma Boys, a Love Story, won numerous student awards both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
She completed two semesters at the Sorbonne University in Paris. After her studies, she decided to stay in France, where she made a Czech-French co-production called Jenica and Perla. The film premiered at the One World Festival in 2015 and was nominated for the prestigious Prix Europe.
In a directorial partnership with Tomáš Bojar, and in co-production with HBO, she made the film FC Roma about a Roma football club. The film premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2016. It won the award for the best Czech documentary at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival in 2016 and was nominated for a Czech Lion Award. Their next joint film, Off Sides premiered at the Vision du Reel festival and was showcased at many international festivals.
