Pavla Janoušková Kubečková studied journalism and media studies at Charles University as well as Film Production at FAMU. She has worked as an independent producer for more than a decade. She mostly focuses on documentaries and high-end TV series, but she has also produced several animations and feature films. She was one of the producers of HBO's highly successful series' Burning Bush (d. Agnieszka Holland, 2013) and Wasteland (TIFF Primetime selection 2016) and Czech TV-Arte co-production miniseries Suspicion (Berlinale Series 2022). Among her most recent titles you can find Brotherhood (Golden Leopard, Locarno 2021), Intensive Life Unit (IDFA 2021), Victim (Venice 2022) and Tony, Shelly and the Magic Light (Jury Prize, Annecy 2023). Currently she works as a development producer and script editor. As part of her education, Pavla attended many European film workshops, e.g. Emerging Producers, DOK.Incubator, Midpoint, Ex Oriente, Eurodoc, EAVE and she was selected as a Czech representative at Producers on the Move at the Cannes IFF.
