Melita Mukavec
Melita Mukavec was born in 2000 in Zagreb, Croatia. She earned her bachelor's degree in Film and TV Directing from the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb in 2023. During her final year, she studied at FAMU in Prague as an exchange student. Her debut short film, Cinderella (2019), won the Grand Prix at the Dubrovnik Film Festival. During the pandemic, she created the autobiographical documentary Unbearable Lightness of Staying (2020), which was screened out of competition at the Motovun Film Festival. Her short fiction film Too Soon (2020) screened the Croatian Filmmaking Revue in 2021, and States (2022) won an award at the First Frame Student Festival in Leicester, UK. Beyond directing, she has experience as a production assistant on set and in the festival sector. Since this year, she has been working as an assistant producer for the Zagreb Film Festival’s industry sector. She also freelances on film and TV projects. Currently, she is developing Turning Point, a short documentary web series exploring young people's struggles with decision-making.
