Mgr. Blanka Cechova, MSt. (*1980) was born in Prague. She is a graduate of Charles University (MA Law) and the University of Oxford (MSt. Creative Writing and Screenwriting). As a lawyer, she worked for the European Court of Human Rights, the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and several NGOs. After her training as an author/screenwriter, she worked as an assistant director for Divadlo Jary Cimrmana in Prague, later as an author and script analyst for production companies (KISI Production, Milk and Honey), and as an editor and script consultant for the film directors Jiri Menzel and Juraj Jakubisko. Her published work includes Na rok za skolou (A Year Abroad) - 1999, Mym divakum - Rozhovor s Ladislavem Smoljakem (Book interview with Ladislav Smoljak) - 2010, Total Balkan - 2011 and Prirucka jadranske snoubenky (The Handbook of the Adriatic Fiancee) - 2012. Currently, she works on the English translation of her two latest books, one of which is the basis of her script "Balkan Return".
