Barbara Zemljič is an awarded film, television, and theater director, screenwriter, playwright, and assistant professor of screenwriting at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television at the University of Ljubljana. She is a mother of two sons. From 2005 to 2016, she wrote scripts for six documentary films for RTV Slovenia, directed ten documentaries, wrote three feature and six short films that were produced. Since 2017 she wrote three theatre plays that were staged at the Ljubljana City Theatre and directed several theater productions. In 2019 she started working as assistant professor of screenwriting at the AGRFT, University of Ljubljana. In 2020, she became a member of the European Film Academy. In 2022, she directed three episodes of the television series "Professor". In 2023, she wrote the screenplay for the series "Rokovnjači" and directed the short fiction film "How I Learned to Hang Laundry," which premiered at the Sarajevo Film Festival, where it received the Partner Prize and was candidate for the European Film Award.
