During the award ceremony on the evening of January 21, the HAVC & MIDPOINT Development Award, including the 3,000 EUR prize, was awarded to writer and director  Drishya Gautham, writer Tarana Reddy and producer Mathivanan Rajendran (Stray Factory)  for their outstanding work on the project KURKUMA.

The award jury, comprised of Marie Lamboeuf (sales expert, Salaud Morisset), Karim Aitouna (producer, Haut Les Mains productions / Waq Waq Studio) and Andrea Magnani (writer, director, producer / Pilgrim Film), stated:

We were impressed by the outstanding selection of projects, which pushes the boundaries of classic cinema narrative by blending genres and showcasing the creativity and innovation of this talented young generation of filmmakers.

The jury connected with many of the presented projects; however, one stood out in particular for its compelling story of cultural conflict, approached with humour and a bold mix of genres. We admire that the team behind this project has truly inhabited their story and managed to tackle such an important subject with remarkable subtlety, depth, and originality

This financial award sponsored by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre and MIDPOINT emphasizes the core objective of the program itself—to aid emerging talents in advancing their film projects.
