Tota Alves
Tota Alves is 34 years old and was born in a suburb of Porto. She discovered her passion for writing and directing films at the age of 28, after studying History and working as a cook, cleaning lady, and clothing salesperson. She created and directed two miniseries for a Portuguese broadcaster: MY OWN BLOOD (2020), a documentary about menstruation, and DOLORES (2020), a mockumentary about a singer that never existed. She made her cinema debut with the film WE DID A FILM (2024) at Indie Lisboa, winning the audience award for best short. She is also a co-founder of an organization for women professionals in moving images in Portugal, MUTIM, and mother of Jaime, a lively 2-year-old boy.
