Nira Bozkurt is a screenwriter, director and producer. She grew up in a small town in southern Germany, studied screenwriting and directing at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne and worked as a sworn, court-appointed translator and interpreter for Turkish for the police (LKA, BKA, Interpol), criminal investigation departments, courts, prisons, psychological court experts, forensic medicine and state authorities.

After her studies she wrote screenplays on spec, 2 were optioned, 1 was nominated at screenplay competitions and one was nominated for the German Film Award by the German Writers' Guild. An English translation of one of her scripts was a Quarterfinalist at last year's Big Apple Film Festival Screenplay Competition. She has written, directed and produced short films that have screened at festivals. Wrote pitches, treatments, and developed feature and XR projects for other writers and film production companies, and produced VR and a theatrical feature. She adapted one of her scripts into a high-end audio drama, which was nominated for the German Audio Book Award in 2022. The Netflix-UFA writers room is her first professional involvement in series development. She is a single mother of a beautiful teenage girl (*2007) and lives in Berlin.
