Leon Golterman

Leon Golterman is an award-winning writer and director of film and television. Based in Amsterdam, he was a writer on television series for RTL, VPRO, BNNVARA and streaming service Videoland. In January of 2023, his episode Stalker opened the second season of the Dutch crime show NOOD. His personal connection with Snakehead is through his recent search into his own family's Indonesian roots.

Leon's work has been in competition at film festivals around the world, including Oscar® and BAFTA qualifying festivals and a special program at the Cannes Film Festival 2022. Most recently, he won the first prize in the 20th PAGE International Screenwriting Awards, an annual screenwriting competition in Los Angeles. The PAGE Awards is one of Hollywood's most important script competitions and a launching pad for new talent. The jury consists of American producers, managers and agents who are on the lookout for new writers and promising projects. They judged his script, Once Upon A Time In Amsterdam, to be the best screenplay in its genre. A total of 8639 scripts were submitted.

Leon Golterman is a Prince Bernhard fellow, a Fulbright scholar and a member of the Dutch Academy For Film. He studied Directing at the University of the Arts Utrecht and Screenwriting at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In addition to film and television, he is a creative for brands such as Heineken, Nomad and Mercedes-Benz.
