Jan Černý is a Czech screenwriter currently studying Master‘s degree at the Department of Screenwriting at FAMU in Prague. Before starting his studies, he studied at the Film Studies Department of Charles University with an Erasmus study program abroad at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle. His work Va Bene won the school screenwriting competition, in which he received funding for the production of this work. He also collaborated as a screenwriter on the works Easter with Grandpas (2022) and Andela (2024). Jan is currently collaborating on many more short projects as well as on multiple TV series developments. The CASTING developed series was presented at KVIFF Talents 2024 where it was among 6 other projects that were selected from other 150. The Doyenne series pitch was shortlisted for Cannes Unlimited 2024. His work is characterized by his interest in social issues and class struggle in society, as well as by his sense of ironical humor.
