MIDPOINT FOCUS QUEER: New Deadline & New Partnership with Thessaloniki International Film Festival and Mastercard!

With the newly extended deadline for applications to MIDPOINT Focus Queer now set for November 30, 2024, MIDPOINT Institute is thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership with the Thessaloniki International Film Festival and Mastercard. This collaboration will expand opportunities for filmmakers from Greece to participate in our Focus Queer program.

November 05, 2024

Through this partnership, Mastercard—the official payment partner of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival—will fully support Greek filmmakers selected for our MIDPOINT Focus Queer program. This includes covering all travel, accommodation, and participation fees for selected filmmakers.

Supporting Queer Narratives
MIDPOINT Focus Queer
is a unique script and project development initiative tailored to filmmakers working on LGBTQI+-themed live-action fiction films in the early stages of development. The program emphasizes creative development, presentation, and promotion skills while offering invaluable networking opportunities.

Moreover, participating projects will be eligible to showcase their work at the prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film Festival as part of the Eastern Promises Industry Days. This includes the Works in Development – Focus Queer showcase, providing exposure to industry leaders and potential funding partners.
Additionally, projects may compete for the coveted €20,000 Eurimages Co-production Development Award.

Extended Deadline for Applications
Filmmakers now have until November 30, 2024, to submit their projects. We are looking for creative teams of up to three members (writers, directors, or producers) with projects emphasizing LGBTQI+ themes or characters.
