The Reunion

Aadil (14) a young political refugee from Syria arrives in Germany after a dramatic Germany. He was sent alone, so that he could apply for family reunion, a law that grands asylum to the families of under age refugees, but he fails. He is sent to a refugee home in Hornsbüttel, a small village in eastern Germany. When the home is set on fire, Aadil meets Helmut (42), who decides to help Aadil and his family reunite. As people find out that Helmut is helming Aadil, he is more and more excluded from society. After he is fired at the supermarket he worked at, Helmut takes Aadil to Berlin. There they hope to receive help from Helmut’s sister Gudrun, who works for the government. They fail. After Aadil finds out, that Helmut is a member of a rightwing movement, he runs of. He meets Rami (26), a young man who promises Aadil, that he could smuggle his family into Europe for 10.000 euros per person. Desperately, Aadil agrees. Since he cant pay, he if forced to work on the streets in Rami's criminal organization. Rami never helps Aadil’s family. After Aadil leaves, Helmut searches him for several weeks, before returning to Hornsbüttel, where he gets his old job back. He manages to get back into his daily routine, until he's informed, that Aadil's family had arrived in Berlin. He sets of to meet them, but it turns out that only Aadil’s father survived. They together search Aadil, but never find him. Aadil meanwhile tries to escape Rami’s organization several times. Years later he manages it.
