MIDPOINT in Cannes 2019

MIDPOINT team is attending Festival de Cannes (May 17 – 21, 2019). It is time to celebrate successful alumni and to introduce news for the upcoming 2019-2020 season of MIDPOINT programs.

MIDPOINT programs Feature Launch, TV Launch and Shorts are ready to enter to a new season and the opening of calls for the year 2020 is around the corner. During Festival de Cannes, new partnerships and deadlines for the submissions to main MIDPOINT programs will be announced. Come to the MIDPOINT Drinks on Saturday, May 18 from 17.00 to 19.00 at the Czech & Slovak Pavilion #130 on the Riviera Side of Village International in Cannes and get to know the latest news.

Moreover, MIDPOINT is happy to celebrate together with its graduates their outstanding successes. The Ukrainian feature film debut EVGE (previously HOMEWARD) by Nariman Aliev has been selected for this year's Un Certain Regard. EVGE is written by Nariman Aliev and Marysia Nikitiuk and produced by Vladimir Yatsenko (Limelite). EVGE was developed within MIDPOINT Feature Launch in 2018 and presented at Works in Development – Feature Launch at KVIFF in 2018 and also at Baltic Event in 2018.

MIDPOINT is also happy to see the names of MIDPOINT Feature Launch alumni among the selected filmmakers to Cinefondation L´Atelier.
The Maw Naing from Myanmar will be developing his second feature film Women. His debut A Monk was developed within MIDPOINT Feature Launch 2011 and was premiered at KVIFF in 2014. Slovak director Michal Blasko was also selected to Cinefondation L´Atelier with his debut feature Victim. Michal participated in MIDPOINT Feature Launch 2015 with his short film project Atlantis, 2003. The film premiered in at Festival de Cannes in 2017.

To Cinefondation Residence of 2019 was selected Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk with his project Pamfir. This project was developed within MIDPOINT's special program MIDPOINT Intensive @KVIFF 2017.

Among selected shorts film of Cinefondation Selection is also Ondrej Erban's short drama One Hundred and Twenty-Eight Thousand. Ondrej participated with project Fog in special MIDPOINT program MIDPOINT Norway Script Development Program in 2016.
