Melissa Byrne
MELISSA BYRNE studied production and media economics at the University of Television and Film Munich, where she received two scholarships. During her studies she produced film projects that were awarded the Golden Lola at the German Short Film Award, the Starter Film Award of the City of Munich and the Jury Prize at the Palm Springs Int. Shortfest, among others. Her film school graduation film Life is not a competition, but I'm winning, a queer-feminist hybrid documentary, which Melissa produced as a freelance producer for the German company Schuldenberg Films, celebrated its world premiere at the Settimana della Critica at the Venice Film Festival 2023, has won several prizes and was invited to many other film festivals, including Talinn Black Nights 2023 and the BFI Flare Film Festival 2024. Since October 2021 she has been working as a freelance screenwriter and as a producer for NORDPOLARIS, a Munich-based production company. She is a member of the Queer Media Society Germany (QMS), Women in Film and Television Germany (WIFT) and Pro Quote Film.
